Viola M. Robbins

91, of West Alexandria, died Friday, April 24, 2026.

She was born March 3, 1935, in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, and as a teenager accepted the Lord as her Savior. Viola married Paul M. Robbins on December 22, 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2006.

In addition to her husband, Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Viola S. (Smith) Brown; daughter, Anita Kouts; six brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Viola Faye and Terry Smith and Charlotte and Steve Frederick; grandchildren, Angela (Don) Cox, Kyra (Jamie) Diehl, Tawny (Aaron) Cooper, Lauren (James) Hilt, Greg Smith, Jeff (Mia) Smith, Dan (Tra`) Smith, Kim (Jim) Benton, Deidre (Jason) Fenske, Steven Frederick, and Rebecca Frederick; 31 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

She was a gifted artist who found joy in painting across many mediums, each piece reflecting her keen eye for beauty and her gentle spirit. Whether she was working with brush, pencil, or craft materials, Viola created not just art, but expressions of warmth and imagination that touched all who knew her.

Her passion for the arts extended far beyond her own work. As Vice President of the Preble County Arts Center, Viola played an instrumental role in encouraging creativity in others, helping to nurture a vibrant artistic community. She was a mentor, a supporter, and a steady presence whose influence will continue to inspire for years to come.

Faith was a cornerstone of Viola’s life. A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of West Alexandria since the early 1960s, she lived her beliefs through kindness, service, and unwavering dedication. Her church family was a source of great comfort and connection, and she gave back to it with a full and generous heart.

Viola also believed deeply in community involvement. Through her work with Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Coterie, and her long-time membership in the Red Hatters, she built lasting friendships and brought joy wherever she went. Known affectionately as a former “Queen Bee” of the Red Hatters, Viola embraced life with fun, laughter, and a flair that made her unforgettable.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 1 from 11AM to 1PM at the First Baptist Church of West Alexandria, 6062 Ivy Lane, West Alexandria, Ohio 45381. The funeral service will begin at 1PM with Pastor Jerry Carter and son-in-law, Terry Smith, officiating. Viola will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Paul, at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
