Steve R. Shiverdecker

August 8, 1956 — August 14, 2025

Huber Heights

Steve “The Shiv” Shiverdecker

69, of Huber Heights, rode into the sunset, Thursday, August 14, 2025.

He was born August 8, 1956, in Dayton, to the late Harold L. and Kathleen (Sparks) Shiverdecker.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Shiverdecker; beloved dogs, Ranger and Layah “Fiddles”; and brother-in-law, Rick Kendall.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 4 years, Ceira “Cee” Shiverdecker; daughter, Jenna (Andrew) Clericus; grandchildren, Drew and Everleigh; siblings, Debbie Kendall and Eric (Chrissy) Shiverdecker; nieces and nephews; and special aunts, Joanna Patrick, Reba Sparks, Theresa Smith, and Patricia Kirkland.

Steve lived his life with grit, integrity, laughter, and a deep love for the outdoors. Whether it was the quiet patience of fishing, the thrill of the hunt, or the camaraderie of guiding others through the fields at Buckeye Pheasant Preserve alongside his trusted English Pointer, Steve was truly in his element when surrounded by nature.

An avid outdoorsman and proud NRA member, Steve devoted much of his time to sharing his knowledge with others. He taught CCW classes with a steady hand and a passion for safety, and for many years served as a Range Officer at Vandalia Range and Armory, where his mix of expertise and good humor earned him the respect and friendship of many. Steve proudly retired in 2022 after working as a sought after machinist for 48 years.

Of course, life wasn’t all work for Steve—he had a love for the open road that matched his love for the woods and water. His mint-condition 100th Anniversary 2003 Harley Davidson Fatboy was his pride and joy, and he could often be found riding it to visit with friends or pulling into one of his favorite establishments. Wherever Steve went, stories and laughter were sure to follow.

Friends and family are encouraged to bring pictures of Steve to the services to share the memories and are encouraged to share stories at the end of the service.

A visitation will be held Sunday, August 24 from 2-4PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The memorial service will begin at 4PM with Celebrant, Elissa Hurley officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
