Rodney "Rod" L. Powell
58, of New Lebanon, was unexpectedly called Home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 2, 2025. Rodney left us suddenly, but we take comfort in knowing he is in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
He was born January 16, 1967, in Dayton, to Lee and Bonnie (Wilson) Powell.
Rod was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Juanita Wilson; paternal grandparents, Willard and Juanita Powell; parents-in-law, Mike and Christy Angel; and sister-in-law, Carla Sadowski.
In addition to his parents, Rod is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lana Powell; daughter, Autumn (Jake) Hunley; grandsons, Easton and Elliott Hunley; brothers, Jason (Tonya) Powell and Jeremi Powell; special nieces and nephews, Scott (Lauren) Sadowski, Kelsey (Garrett) Crawford, Serena Sadowski, Lane Powell, and Carson Powell; and many more family and friends.
He was a hardworking man who spent much of his life on the road as a milk hauler for Pence Milk Transport, a job he took great pride in. But beyond his work, it was the simple joys of life that meant the most to him, casting a line into the water, spending time in nature, and enjoying every moment with his family.
Rod especially loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, camping, driving through the mountains, or relaxing on the beach, he found peace in nature. He often dreamed of one day moving closer to those places he held dear.
Above all else, Rod cherished time with his family. His wife, Lana, was not only his partner but also his best friend and the love of his lifetime. Their bond was one built on love, trust, and shared memories. Together, they created a life full of laughter, adventure, and unbreakable support. His daughter was his sidekick, the two of them were always getting into something together. Whether she was practicing her pitching or learning life skills, he was there, always willing to catch the ball and teach her valuable lessons along the way. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and the memories they created will be treasured forever. His grandsons held a special place in his heart, and he lit up whenever they were near. His presence was steady, his laughter warm, and his love unwavering.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 8 from 3-5PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will be Monday, June 9 at 1PM at the funeral home with Pastor Kyle Wardlaw officiating. Rod will be laid to rest at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
