Ollie “Erma” Lewis
93, of West Elkton, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 16, 2025.
She was born May 20, 1932 in Vox, Kentucky, to the late Albert N. and Nellie (Tuggle) Bray.
In addition to her parents, Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Corbett Lewis; sons, Corbett Lewis Jr. and James Lewis; granddaughter, Charlotte (Kempf) Ferguson; grandson, David Lewis; and siblings, Paul Bray, Jerry Bray, Arneda Caudell, Opal McCoy, Ernie Bray, and Ernest Bray.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn “Kay” Clevenger and Glenda (Steve) King; grandchildren, Robert (Daisy) Ferguson, Jimmy (Kristy) King, Johnny (Kacey) King, and Brett Lewis; 18 great grandchildren; 6 great-great; sister, Violet Cox; and daughter-in-law, Pat Lewis.
To know Erma was to see a life anchored in faith and love. She was proud to be one of the oldest members of the West Elkton Church of Christ, where her heart found joy in serving, especially helping with Vacation Bible School and sharing God’s word with little ones.
Erma worked hard throughout her life—first as a cook at the historic Manchester Inn, where her meals carried the same warmth as her smile, and later at Gough-Lamb Dry Cleaners in Middletown, where she gave 17 years of steady dedication.
But it was at home, surrounded by fabric and thread, that Erma’s creativity shined. She quilted with patience, sewed clothing with care, and poured love into every stitch. Those pieces, like her presence, brought comfort and beauty to the lives around her.
Erma’s story is one of faith, hard work, and love stitched deeply into the hearts of her family, friends, and church community. Her memory will live on in the quilts she made, the lives she touched, and the example she set of a life well-lived for God.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 25 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 12:30PM with Pastor Hugh Howard officiating. Erma will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park beside her beloved husband, Corbett.
