Michael D. Grant
80, of Chillicothe, formerly Dayton, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 22, 2026.
He is survived by his siblings, Wanda Towe, Carolyn Grant, and Patricia Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews.
Michael’s life was a testament to quiet strength, enduring faith, and the joy found in simple blessings. Born prematurely and facing disabilities from his earliest days, Michael’s journey was never defined by limitations, but by the love he shared and the happiness he found in life’s everyday moments. Through the devoted care of his family and his own resilient spirit, he was blessed with many years that became a gift to all who knew him.
Michael found great comfort and happiness in his church family. He faithfully attended worship services and especially enjoyed Sunday School, where familiar hymns, warm smiles, and the steady rhythm of fellowship brought him peace. His presence in the pew was a gentle reminder of steadfast faith and childlike trust.
A true fan of the Old West, Michael delighted in watching classic cowboy and western television shows. The adventures, the heroes in wide-brimmed hats, and the familiar theme songs brought him hours of enjoyment. In those stories of courage and good triumphing over evil, he found excitement and comfort.
Some of Michael’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by family. At reunions and gatherings, when music filled the room, his face would light up. He enthusiastically clapped his hands along to the songs, fully immersed in the joy of the moment. Music connected him to those he loved, and his heartfelt enthusiasm often became the heartbeat of the celebration itself.
Michael’s life reminds us that joy does not require grand accomplishments, but rather a heart open to love, faith, and togetherness. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, innocence, and the pure happiness that comes from being surrounded by those who care.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 28 from 12PM to 1PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria with the funeral service starting at 1PM. Michael will be laid to rest at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
