Lewisburg

Marvin F. Evans

82, of Lewisburg, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 24, 2025.

He was born March 3, 1943, in Verona, to the late Glen E. and Evelyn E. (Pease) Evans.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, O’Dell Archer, Clay Teague, Elvin “Bill” Worley, David DeSantis, Fred Utsinger, Jim Rike, Landis Eldridge, and Allen Tackett; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Evans, Daisy Evans, and Bea Rike; nephews, Bobby Archer and Larry Worley; and niece, Angela Meyers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Linda (Rike) Evans; daughter, Sherri (Scott) Waller; son, Marvin T. (Melinda) Evans; grandchildren, Heather (Josh) Boggs, Dustin Waller, Harlee (David Doyle) Evans, and Christopher Evans; great grandchildren, Tristan, Braelyn, Eli, and Kenzi; siblings, Ralph Evans, Janet Worley, Linda Teague, Carol (John) Jackson, and Shirley DeSantis; nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends.

Marvin was a skilled tool and die maker for many years, earning the respect of his peers for his craftsmanship and precision. His work ethic, though quiet, spoke volumes. Outside of his trade, Marvin’s heart belonged to the land. As a proud farmer, he spent countless hours tending to his fields, growing not just crops but a deep connection to the earth that grounded him.

An avid tractor puller, Marvin could often be found behind the wheel of his 7000lb modified tractor, competing with the same passion and determination that defined everything he did. His love for machines extended to his barn, where he could often be found tinkering and bringing new ideas to life. Whether it was adjusting the engine of his tractor or working on his beloved equipment, Marvin’s hands were always busy, and his mind never stopped thinking of the next project.

Marvin also found peace in the quieter moments. His vegetable garden was his sanctuary, where he could connect with nature and nurture the fruits of his labor. After a long day of work, he could be found sitting on his glider, watching the traffic pass by, content in the calmness of his surroundings. But above all, it was the time spent with his family that brought him the greatest happiness. Whether gathered around the dinner table, working side by side in the garden, or enjoying each other’s company, Marvin’s love for his family was unwavering and constant.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to the staff of Everheart Hospice.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 31 from 5-7PM and on Tuesday, April 1 from 11AM to 12PM both at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Lonnie Richardson officiating.
