Lloyd E. O’Dell

Age 87, of Floral City, Florida, formerly of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

He was born December 22, 1938 in Lewisburg, to the late Ulace J. and Gladys (Neanover) O’Dell.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sheila J. O’Dell.

He is survived by his sons, Kyle E. O'Dell and Mark A. O'Dell; brother, Melvin; grandchildren, Katherine M. O’Dell, Sam (Kaleigh) O’Dell, Tim (Martha) O’Dell, Diana (George) Busby; and 11 great grandchildren; many more family and friends.

Lloyd had a lifelong passion for aviation. He enjoyed flying private planes and ultralights, and his adventurous spirit led him to explore experimental aircraft as well. When he wasn't in the sky himself, he could often be found enjoying his love of RC remote-control airplanes. Aviation was more than a hobby for Lloyd; it was one of the many ways he embraced life and his love of adventure.

His interests extended well beyond flying. Lloyd was fascinated by classic automobiles and proudly built seven classic cars, putting his own time, skill, and creativity into each one. He was also an avid coin collector, appreciating the history and stories behind the coins he collected.

He also enjoyed music and dancing, especially the box trot and ballroom dancing. He had a way of enjoying life that reflected his independent spirit and his willingness to try, build, learn, and experience something new.

Lloyd will be remembered as a man who followed his interests with enthusiasm and lived life on his own terms. Whether he was taking to the skies, building a classic car, guiding an RC airplane, dancing across the floor, or adding another treasured coin to his collection, Lloyd found ways to keep life interesting. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched and, in the passions, he shared with those around him.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 14 from 11AM to 1PM at Preble Memory Gardens Funeral Center, West Alexandria, with the funeral service beginning at 1PM. Lloyd Will be laid to rest next to his wife, Sheila J. O’Dell, at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
