Julia I.
Jones
November 12, 1938 – May 1, 2026
Julia I. Jones
87, of Eaton, went to be with the Lord, Friday, May 1, 2026.
She was born November 12, 1938, in Eaton, to the late Chester A. Thompson and Marie (Rogers) Stewart.
In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her children, Karla M. Jones, Carl Jones, Curtis Jones, Shanitta Adams, and Judy Schaffer; and stepsons, Randy Jones and Steve Jones.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Jones; stepdaughter, Nina (Bruce) Hoff; stepson, Tim Jones; grandchildren, Julia L. (Jones) Alexander, Richard "Ricky" Jones, Kayden Jones, Charlton Baker, Joshua Baker, Brandy Baker, Shawnda Jones, Brandon Jones, Echo Fisher, Jamie Barker, Mark Schaffer, Cody Schaffer, Lisa Schaffer, Keena Jones, Austin Jones, Alex Adams, Andrew Adams, Keauna Adams, Anthony Adams, and Ashton Adams; 48 great and great-great grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Sahara.
She found happiness in life’s little moments, carefully fitting together the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, or getting lost in a good word search, where patience and curiosity always led to completion. Julia also enjoyed relaxing with her favorite programs on the Hallmark Channel and the Game Show Network, where familiar stories and friendly competition brought her comfort and delight.
But above all else, Julia’s greatest joy was her family. She lived each day with them at the center of her heart, cherishing every moment spent together. Family gatherings were her favorite occasions, filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of generations coming together. Whether hosting or simply sitting among her loved ones, Julia created an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome, valued, and deeply loved.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steady presence, and the way she made ordinary days feel special. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she nurtured, the memories she helped create, and the love she so freely gave to her children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6 from 5PM to 7PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 11AM on Thursday, May 7 at the funeral home with Pastor Raymond Rothwell officiating. Julia will be laid to rest at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
