James R. Combs, Sr.

James R. Combs, 76, of Jefferson Twp., Dayton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Kettering Medical Center. Born September 9, 1945, he was the 4th of 8 children born to the late Shade Combs, Sr. and Myrtle (Fugate) Combs. Jim worked as a brick mason and retied after many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by longtime companion Anna L. (Smith) Beaty on November 12, 2008; son Kenton Beaty on August 4, 2020; grandchildren Matt and Melissa; and sister Orpha Carpenter.

Survived by children James R. Combs, Jr. of Dayton, Lisa Jean Fitzgerald of Miamisburg, Connie Sue Combs of Dayton, and Jennifer Worman of New Lebanon; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great great grandson; brothers and sisters Charles Combs of Englewood, Shade Combs, Jr. of Dayton, Dale Combs of Dayton, Barbara Halfey of Union, Wilma Powell of Centerville, and Betty Terrill of Brookville; along with a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Preble Memory Gardens Funeral Center – 3377 US Rt. 35 E.v-vWest Alexandria, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at  1:00 PM with Pastor Al Robertson presiding, and conclude with entombment at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
