Helen J. (Brown) Hileman

92, of Eaton, passed away peacefully at Reid Hospital on Friday, April 11, 2025.

She was born April 18, 1932, in Eldorado, to the late Elwood M. and Sarah E. (Cromwell) Brown.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Hileman; second husband, Art Kapp; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Darlene Hileman; and siblings, Marilyn Sons, Kay Sutton, Pauline Wenclewicz, and Robert Brown.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Charles) Beadling and June (Rick) Kinsinger; grandchildren, Sarah (Tyson) Knudsen, Matilda (Richard) Eide, Tanner Kinsinger, Abby (Angis) Freeman, Alicia (Justin) Fekete, Brandi Rosenberger, and Corey (Keesha) Tolliver; and 13 great grandchildren.

Helen graduated from Monroe Central High School, Class of 1950, and chose to stay close to the roots that shaped her, living her entire life in the community she cherished. Her life was a beautiful blend of tradition, friendship, and an unwavering zest for fun. Helen had a unique gift for making friends wherever she went, whether old classmates or new faces, she welcomed all with a warm heart and a sharp wit.

A passionate player, Helen never turned down a game of euchre or Scrabble. She was known for her strategic mind and a competitive streak that kept everyone on their toes. Her quick thinking and playful banter made every game a memorable one, win or lose.

Music was another joy in Helen’s life. A true country music enthusiast, she could often be found lighting up the room at local karaoke nights with her favorite tunes. With her very own DJ setup, Helen didn’t just enjoy the music, she shared it, setting the soundtrack to many unforgettable nights with friends and family.

One of Helen’s favorite places was Lake Lakengren, where she had once lived and spent countless peaceful hours fishing. Whether casting a line or simply soaking in the serenity of the water, it was her happy place, a quiet counterbalance to her vibrant social life.

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to Dr. Allen Meyers, the Emergency Department Staff and the Hospice Care staff for their kind and professional care of Helen.

A private inurnment will take place at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family.
