Emery Lewis Baker

Emery Lewis Baker, age 89, of New Lebanon, OH, passed away Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born May 6, 1926 in Laurel County, KY. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Verla (Barnes) Baker. Preceded in death by his parents Starling Tilford Baker and Lizzie (Turner) Baker: daughter Donna Jean Baker: sisters Ethel Baker, Daisy Baker Doolin, Julia Baker Flynn and Glenda Baker Gantz. He is also survived by a brother William L. Baker and a number of nieces and nephews. Emery was a WW II veteran serving with the U.S. Navy for 2 years in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was assigned to the USS LST-732. He retired after 42 years with the General Motors Delco Products Division. He enjoyed retirement and spent most of his time gardening, woodworking and traveling. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH.
