Ella Durham

Ella Durham, age 87, of Eaton, OH, passed away Monday evening, July 7, 2014 following an extended illness. Born in Irvine, KY, she was a daughter of the late James & Ida (Neal) Horn. Ella worked aiding the war effort for 2 years during WWII at the Inland Plant in Dayton, OH. She went on to become a Nurses Aid and retired after 25 years, having worked at the TV Sanatarium in Englewood, OH, a hospital in Lexington, KY and 8 years at Governor Harris Homestead in Eaton. She was a former member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Camden, OH. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Ernest Durham in 1994: daughter Brenda West: sisters and brother Flora Rawlings, Elizabeth Johnson, Marie Gaines, Callie Price, Susie Fauste and James Horn, Jr. Survived by children James (Alberta) Sanders of Farmersville, OH; E. John Durham of Lewisburg, OH; Roger A. (Tina) Durham of Hamilton, OH; and Mary E. Durham of Eaton: grandchildren Becky Smith, Carrie Golden, James Thomas West, John S. Durham, Lori Durham, Brianna Durham, John McIntosh, II, Zach McIntosh, Katie McIntosh: 11 great grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren: sister Drusie Cook of Irvine, KY. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Pastor Jerry Carter will officiate. Friends may call on the family from 2:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
