John Durham, Jr.
68, of Eaton, passed away, Monday, June 15, 2026, at 5:24pm at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on December 30, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Ernest John and Ella (Horn) Durham.
John was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 15 years, Scherry L. Durham; sister, Brenda and her husband Tommy West; brother, James Sanders; brother-in-law, Rick Wright; 2 sisters-in-law, Regina Wright and Rae Jean Parks; mother and father-in-law, Doris and Dick Wright.
He is survived by his son, John Durham; daughter, Lori Durham; grandchildren, Gaige (Mya) Durham, Haidan Durham, and Nora Durham; and great grandson, Myles Durham.
John had a passion for life and a knack for turning old things into treasures. He loved working on hot rod cars, bringing them back to life and then flipping them to their next proud owner. If there was an engine to tinker with or a classic car to admire, John was in his element.
His greatest joy, however, was his family, especially his grandchildren. To hear John talk about Gaige, Haidan, Nora, and Myles was something to behold. John spoke of them with love and pride that knew no bounds, lighting up every room with stories of their accomplishments and adventures. They were truly the center of his world.
John was also an avid collector who appreciated the simple pleasures in life. John had an impressive collection of movies, from treasured VHS tapes to DVDs, and his love of music spanned generations, from the unforgettable sounds of '80s rock to the heartfelt melodies of country music.
John will be remembered for his kind heart, his love for family, his passion for classic cars, and his ability to find joy in the things he loved most. His memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the music played, and the countless lives he touched.
Though he has left this earthly garage behind, John's spirit will forever ride on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 19 from 12PM to 2PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 2PM and Joh will be laid to rest at Preble Memory Gardens beside his wife, Scherry, following the service.
