Donald “Don” E. Craig
age 77, of Eaton, passed peacefully into the arms of his family in Heaven on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Born on October 17, 1948, in Richmond, Indiana, he was the son of the late Lloyd Craig and Margaret Crabtree.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacque (Tobias) Craig; his sister, Connie Price; and his stepfather, Clarence Crabtree.
Don is survived by his daughter, Wendy, and her husband, Keith Moody; grandsons, Joshua (Lauren) Moody and Jeremy (Erica Swartz) Moody; great‑grandchildren, Mason and Madilyn Moody; his sister, Shirley Fugate; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Don was retired from The Lewisburg Container after many years of being a machine operator. He was a familiar face throughout the community.
He was an active member of the Eaton Optimist Club before its disbandment, dedicating his time to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Many also knew him as The Voice as the announcer at the Preble County Pork Festival for the last 40 plus years, where his enthusiasm and energy became part of the cherished tradition enjoyed by generations of festival-goers.
Don lived life with the accelerator down and the classic rock turned up. His quick wit, warm personality, and unwavering love for his community made him unforgettable. He never met a stranger, he couldn't turn into a friend, and his presence brought energy and laughter wherever he went.
A devoted NASCAR enthusiast, Don proudly cheered for Bill Elliott and rarely missed the thrill of race day. His passion for motorsports was matched only by his appreciation for classic cars. He could often be found riding on his scooter at local festivals and car shows, checking out what kind of food to eat at the food trailers and admiring craftsmanship of cars, sharing stories, and reminiscing about the vehicles he worked on in his younger years.
In his younger years, Don found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He spent countless hours working on cars, casting a line in search of the next big catfish, and creating treasured memories while camping at Lake of the Woods Campground.
He also enjoyed spending time at Heritage Hills Campground with Wendy, Keith and dear friend Lance. These experiences became stories he loved to share and moments he held close.
He was proud of his daughter and son in law's accomplishments and owning their own business, Bee Kozy Heating and Cooling. Don felt great enjoyment while spending time with them as this filled his days with purpose and connection.
Above all, Don's greatest pride was his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought laughter, encouragement, and a sense of comfort to those around him. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Though the race has ended and the track has grown quiet, Don’s voice, spirit, orneriness and love will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, from 1 PM to 3 PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER in West Alexandria, with the funeral service beginning at 3 PM. Don will be laid to rest at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery beside his wife, Jacque.
