Deborah E. Guckian

Deborah E. Guckian , 67, of Eaton, OH, passed away Monday evening, February 27, 2017. Born December 8, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Margaret (Wilhoite) Pelfrey. Debbie was a longtime active member of Sugar Valley United Methodist Church where she participated in bazaars and fund raising events. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Deb was a member and Past President of the Eaton Kiwanis Club. She retired after 30 years as a social worker and supervisor from Preble County Job and Family Services. Her position allowed her to be involved in various community boards and organizations, including The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross Disaster Relief, the Community Action Board and the Preble County Counseling Center. Following retirement, she delivered Meals on Wheels for 5 years, enjoyed yard work and flower gardening. Her greatest love was her family and spending time with them. Survived by her beloved husband Robert J. "Bobby Joe" Guckian whom she married March 19, 1976: children Beatrice "Denise" Stapleton and companion Tyler Shumard of Eaton; Deborah Kay Hoke and husband Adam of Liberty, IN; and Michael D. Lewis of Eaton: 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter: sisters and brother Deloris Mason and husband Jan of Eaton; Ida Corwin of Eaton; Larry Pelfrey and wife Kathy of Hamilton; and Marilyn Pence of Eaton: special aunt Lucille Virgin of Dayton: sister-in-law JoAnn Guckian of Camden: along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Pastor Gerry Sadai presiding. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, and 10:00 AM - 11:00 Am Friday.
