Clyde “Sparky” Sparks
86, of Eaton, passed away, Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
He was born July 3, 1938, in Compton County, Kentucky, to the late Jeff D. and Lula O. (Barnes) Sparks.
In addition to his parents, Sparky was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 62 years, Mary Jo Sparks; sister, Kathleen Shiverdecker; brother, John Sparks; and grandson, Jamie Coburn.
He is survived by his daughters, TeAnna Coburn and Nancy Morgan and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Nicholas (Sabrina) Constable, Jullian Coburn, Ashtyn Morgan, Keely (Christina) Rader, and Justin Morgan; great grandson, Kylun Morgan; and sisters, Joanna Patrick and Reba Sparks.
Sparky was known far and wide for his warm heart, strong handshake, and love of the great outdoors. He found happiness in the ordinary, especially casting a line into the waters of Hueston Woods and Grand Lake St. Mary’s, where he spent countless peaceful hours fishing for crappie, catfish, and carp. An avid deer hunter and trapper, he roamed nearby farms in pursuit of muskrat and fox, honoring traditions passed down through generations.
He served his country with pride in the U.S. Army and brought that same sense of dedication and loyalty to everything he did in civilian life. Whether it was offering a helping hand to a neighbor, mentoring a younger outdoorsman, or enjoying time with loved ones, Sparky lived fully and generously. He retired from GM after 30 years of service.
Since 1971, Crosses Campground in Camden became his second home, where nearly every weekend was spent camping with his beloved wife, Mary Jo. There, Sparky was a fixture at the horseshoe pits, where laughter rang out and memories were made with family and friends.
