Brooksie Black
92, of Hamilton, formerly of New Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Brooksie was born in Sharkey, Kentucky, the son of Beda and Elbert Black.
He leaves his loving wife, JoAnn and brother, Gary Hamilton.
Brooksie started his career as a lumberjack and retired as head of the motor pool at Duriron Foundry in Dayton, Ohio.
He was a loving father to four children, Billie Jo Foley (Calvin), David Black (Mindy), Mark Black (Darlene), and John Black (Jennifer). Brooksie was also stepfather to Becky Haines Wyan (Bill) and Buddy Haines (Michelle), many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and special nephew, Johnny Basil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nilah Basil; brothers, Deward Black and Mike Cavins.
Brooksie loved music and spent his retirement working on cars and building anything for friends and family. He will be loved and missed by all of us.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10 from 11AM to 1PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will start at 1PM with interment to follow at Trissel Cemetery, New Lebanon.
