Billy D. Mcmurray

Billy D. McMurray, 58, of West Alexandria, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, December 22, 2013. Billy was the son of the late Jerry P. & Daisy E. (Hooker) McMurray. His life left a mark on other people's lives that most of us will never do. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was a lifelong member and usher for 18 years with the Grace Brethren Community Church in Glenwood. He was a graduate of the Preble County School for Special Needs. He worked at the Creative Learning Workshop in New Paris and formerly for L & M Products in Eaton. Billy won the gold medal in foul shooting in the first Special Olympics held in Ohio at Columbus, and participated in many Preble County Special Olympics over the years. He had been a tag-along with Cub Scout Troop #107 of West Alexandria, participated in Preble County 4-H and was a fan of Cincinnati Reds baseball. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Jerrald P. and James L. McMurray. He is survived by sisters Leta Donohoo & husband Richard of Eaton; and Ruby Turner & husband Raymond of Union City, IN: sister-in-law Dorothy "Mom" McMurray of West Alexandria, with whom he lived for 22 years: special cousin Pam Bradshaw & husband Tim of Kingsport, TN: and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Elbert Sorrell presiding. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Brethren Community Church.
